International Swimming Hall of Fame in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida

A swimmer practices for competition at the International Swimming Hall of Fame pool in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. As a swimmer throughout high school and for one year in college, I was excited to find out that a swimming hall of fame exists. Obviously, since I didn't know about it, I'm not in it! Nevertheless, I walked over to check it out and noticed that they had a pool with swimmers practicing. Even better yet, they had a row of open-air windows where I could shoot from, so that the lane lines stacked up nicely. I composed the photo at an angle where I could get red, white and blue colors and then just waited for a swimmer to swim past. This photo was part of a Livability.com photo shoot in South Florida.

Staff photographer Jeff Adkins joined Journal Communications in July 2007. He was previously a staff photographer at the Knoxville News-Sentinel and The Baton Rouge Advocate newspapers. Jeff also completed an extended internship with the Columbus Dispatch newspaper in Columbus, Ohio upon graduating from the University of Colorado with a degree in advertising.
